ACTION RESEARCH Overview Action Research has its origin in the works of the social psychologist Kurt Lewin (1946). He developed the ideas of group decision and commitment to improvement at work situations (classroom and administrative). It is an act of analysing a situation leading to certain action for improvement and evaluating the result of the tried out action. Action research is focussed on immediate application. It places the emphasis on the problem here and now, in a school setting. Its findings are to be evaluated in terms of local applicability and improvement in school practices. The whole purpose of Action Research is to involve classroom teachers to attempt to solve their classroom problems. A Conceptual Analysis Action research is a form of self-reflective enquiry undertaken by participants in serial situations in order to improve the rationality and justice of their own social or educational practices, as well as their understa...
To my understanding, a theoretical framework just presents theories about the different concepts presented in your research where as a conceptual framework selects only those theories that apply to the context of your research.
ReplyDeleteA conceptual framework is the researcher’s idea on how the research problem will have to be explored. This is founded on the theoretical framework, which lies on a much broader scale of resolution. The theoretical framework dwells on time tested theories that embody the findings of numerous investigations on how phenomena occur.
ReplyDeleteThe theoretical framework provides a general representation of relationships between things in a given phenomenon. The conceptual framework, on the other hand, embodies the specific direction by which the research will have to be undertaken. Statistically speaking, the conceptual framework describes the relationship between specific variables identified in the study. It also outlines the input, process and output of the whole investigation.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Grant & Osanloo a theoretical framework is derived from an existing theory (or theories) in the literature that has already been tested and validated by others and is considered a generally acceptable theory in the scholarly literature. A conceptual framework on the other hand offers a logical structure of connected concepts that help provide a picture or visual display of how ideas in a study and how they are related. Where as a theoretical framework offers a plan the conceptual framework helps us visualize it.
Conceptual framework is developed by the researcher to solve a particular problem that one wants to find solution whereas theoretical framework is based on theories or general representation of relationship between various things. Conceptual framework assists in finding way to solve the problem whereas theoretical framework helps in relating your identified/ specific problem in general. Conceptual framework is commonly used in qualitative research and theoretical commonly used in quantitative research.
ReplyDeleteA conceptual framework is a research tool intended to assist a researcher to develop awareness and understanding of the situation under scrutiny and to communicate it. that is to say that is assists a researcher to organise her/his thinking and complete an investigation. it goes farther to explain the possible connections between the variables and answers the why questions whereas a theoretical framework is a collection of interrelated ideas based on theories. it attempts to clarify why things are the way they are based on theories. simply it is a general set of assumptions about the nature of phenomena.
ReplyDeleteTheoretical framework is concerned with the theory that is expounded in more details: what theory it is, who propounded or suggested it, when it was propounded, what does the theory stipulate (assert) and how relevant is it to the proposed study. (how does it link the IV; independent variable and DV; dependent variable ). the conceptual framework is a representation of the connectivity between the independent and dependent variables' with respect to and another variable which may affect the study, this other variable maybe an extraneous variable, moderating, intervening variable in respect of the study
